Suspect arrested in sexual assault

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 25 Jul, 2024 10:18 AM
  • Suspect arrested in sexual assault

Police in Victoria say they've arrested a suspect who they believe violently sexually assaulted a woman last week.

Victoria police say a woman was threatened and assaulted in the early morning hours of July 18th after an unknown man took her to an area near a piece of public art known as the Commerce Canoe before fleeing.

Police say the man was arrested Tuesday evening, and a search warrant was also executed by investigators to gather evidence tied to the sexual assault.

Police say a public plea for witnesses and video footage aided in arresting the suspect, who isn't being named because charges are still pending.
