  • Suspect arrested and charged following assault of teenager in Westminster Pier Park

New Westminster – On October 4th at approximately 2:00 pm, New Westminster Police officers were dispatched to Westminster Pier Park after an unprovoked attack on a teenager. The injuries sustained by the teenager required hospital treatment. Following a thorough investigation, police identified and arrested the suspect.

30-year-old Devin Monteleone of Burnaby, BC, has been charged with the assault causing bodily harm. 

Investigators are aware of the similarities between this assault and an assault that occurred on 6th Street on September 27th in New Westminster.

“Investigators are looking to see if this individual is involved in any other similar offences in the city,” stated Sergeant Thom. “Thanks to our patrol members who worked thoughtfully and quickly to progress these investigations.”

Investigators ask that people with information on either assault to call the New Westminster Police Department.

The passengers of the vehicle were identified and released pending further investigation. The 25-year old female driver remains in custody on a number of firearms related charges and the investigation remains ongoing.
