Surrey’s Officer in Charge promoted to Assistant Commissioner

    The City of Surrey congratulates Bill Fordy, Officer in Charge of the Surrey RCMP, for his promotion to Assistant Commissioner.

    “Bill Fordy has made invaluable contributions to the people of Surrey and his promotion is well deserved,” said Mayor Linda Hepner.

    “Awarded the Order of Merit in 2014, Bill Fordy’s leadership and progressive approach to policing are hallmarks of his long and distinguished career. The promotion acknowledges his career achievements, while also endorsing the increased responsibilities and duties held by our Detachment Commander.  

    I want to congratulate Bill in his promotion.  I also want to acknowledge the flexibility of the RCMP in BC and nationally for supporting the City of Surrey in addressing our dynamic policing needs through partnerships, coordination and innovation.

    Assistant Commissioner Fordy has been in charge of Surrey Detachment, the largest RCMP detachment in the country, since June of 2012. In keeping with the City’s request, he will remain as the Officer in Charge of Surrey Detachment.

    Fordy has been a member of the RCMP since 1989 and his first posting following his graduation from Depot was to Surrey Detachment.
