Darpan News Desk, 14 Jun, 2019 06:30 PM

Delta Police confirm that next of kin notifications have been completed with the family of the 37-year-old driver Rajvinder Singh Sidhu of one of the semi-trucks involved in this incident. He was from Surrey, and unfortunately died at the scene. The other driver involved in the crash received non-serious injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing as to the cause of this crash, and police will not be commenting at this time on possible factors involved.

The crash scene was complex, and police again thank drivers and all those impacted for their patience. Clearing the road of the semi trucks was a complicated task.

Extensive environmental site clean up was also required, and was concluded shortly after 3 am, June 14, after which point Deltaport Way was fully re-opened.

    How It Happened:

At approximately 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 Delta Police received a call about a collision involving two semi-trucks in the 3500-block of Deltaport Way.

One truck was travelling eastbound on Deltaport Way and the other truck was travelling westbound at the time of the collision. Delta Police were on scene shortly after the incident occurred, as was the Delta Fire Department.
