Surrey Shooting: Deadly Gunfire Ends Violent Dispute As One Killed In East Newton Neighbourhood

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 13 Jul, 2015 09:53 AM
SURREY, B.C. — Homicide investigators have spent the night at a Surrey, B.C., home probing a fatal shooting.

Mounties have released few details about the incident in the East Newton neighbourhood (on 64th Avenue) not far from the Serpentine River.

They say they were called at around 11:30 Sunday night to a report of some sort of dispute in the home.

The victim was found in the house and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the case.

RCMP Inspector Jeff Metcalfe says early indications are that it’s not related to the series of shootings stemming from a turf war between between Somalian and South Asian gangs.

Officers have not said if a suspect has been identified or if charges are expected. (CKNW, Global)
