  • Surrey RCMP rolling out body cameras

Surrey R-C-M-P says they will announce the rollout of body-worn cameras today. 

The rollout will be the largest deployment in the province with more than three-thousand cameras expected. 

The Mounties are deploying more than 10-thousand cameras across the country in the next 12 to 18 months.

Officers will be expected to turn on their cameras when they answer calls or interact with the public.

Mounties in Duncan say a man is now facing a charge of manslaughter for the stabbing death of a 33-year-old-man earlier this year.  They say that on July 16th, officers responded to a report of an injured man in the city's downtown and arrived to find the victim suffering from stab wounds.
