SURREY, B.C. — Police are investigating more gunfire in Surrey, B.C., amid a recent spate of shootings in the city east of Vancouver.
Surrey RCMP say they received several 911 calls at around 11:15 p.m. Friday reporting hearing multiple gun shots near 65th Avenue and 121st Street.
Witnesses described hearing several shots and seeing several vehicles, including a small newer grey import car and a dark coloured sedan, driving away from the area.
Mounties say no nearby residences or vehicles appear to have been struck by bullets, although officers found a spent shell casing near the intersection.
Surrey RCMP did not say whether the shooting is connected to other recent gunfire, which investigators believe is the result of a turf war in the low-level drug trade.
Mounties say two groups of Sikh and Somali descent are responsible for at least 11 recent shootings in Surrey and nearby Delta, B.C.
