Surrey RCMP arrest 12 men filming a Tik Tok video and having replica guns

  • Surrey RCMP arrest 12 men filming a Tik Tok video and having replica guns

Surrey RCMP say they arrested a dozen men who were filming a TikTok video Tuesday after witnesses reported seeing one of them with a weapon in the group.

The police were called to Mud Bay Park around 7 in the evening after they heard a man with a gun had put another man in a headlock and dragged him into the bushes.

There were many RCMP officers on the scene and arrested 12 men in the age group of 25 to 30 years.

According to a Surrey RCMP statement "Police searched the area and found two airsoft pistols, a baseball bat, a camera and a chair with a rope,"

Once police found out that the men were filming a Tik Tok video but had fake guns they issued them a $200 bylaw ticket. The bylaw doesn't permit use of an airgun within a park without the prior written permission of the general manager.

Via media release, Cpl. Elenore Sturko with Surrey RCMP said "Police have a duty to respond to all weapons calls as legitimate public safety concerns".

"This group of young men put themselves and others at risk as a result of their poor decision making".

“Airsoft pistols and other replica firearms are best left at home, or better yet, for the safety and well-being of our community, please don’t buy one.”
