EARLIER STORY:

A single vehicle collision has caused a severe traffic disruption in Surrey.

On Tuesday morning around 6:15, Surrey RCMP were called to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of 148th street and 64th avenue. A commercial vehicle struck a Hydro pole carrying active power lines.

Due to the location of the collision and the subsequent downed power line, 64th avenue is closed from 152nd street to 146th street. 148th street is closed from 68th avenue to 62nd avenue. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and find a different route for their morning commute.

The incident is still under investigation but alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors.
