Surrey Man Charged After Allegedly Assaulting, Slapping And Spitting In Face Of SkyTrain Police

BURNABY, B.C. — Police have charged a man with assaulting transit officers after an altercation on Sunday at the Metrotown SkyTrain Station in Burnaby, B.C.
 
Metro Vancouver Transit Police say officers saw the man holding an open bottle of cider on the station platform at 9:45 p.m. and as they approached him a six-pack of cider was smashed on the floor.
 
A struggle ensued and police say the man allegedly slapped an officer across the face and grabbed the groin area of another officer.
 
Police also allege that the man spat into an officer's face after he was handcuffed and taken to a vehicle for transport to jail.
 
A 29-year-old man from Surrey has been charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer and one count of wilfully resisting a police officer.
