Surrey High School Stabbing: Assault Charges Recommended Against Teen Suspect

The Canadian Press , 07 Nov, 2014 12:46 PM
SURREY, B.C. — Assault charges are being recommended against a 17-year-old boy who was arrested in connection to a Surrey school stabbing.

RCMP say the suspect is expected to appear in court after an 18-year-old victim was found at a Surrey high school with multiple stab wounds to his back on Thursday.

Officers recovered a knife on-scene and say the suspect fled after the incident at Princess Margaret secondary school but was arrested in his home a few hours later.

Mounties have identified the suspect as a student of the school but say his relationship with the victim is unknown.

Surrey RCMP say they are recommending charges of assault causing bodily harm.

The victim is currently recovering in hospital and police say his injuries aren't life-threatening.
