Surrey Family Pleads For Information 1 Year After Mother Struck And Killed In Wheelchair

Darpan News Desk, 02 Oct, 2019 07:38 PM

Surrey RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation is continuing to investigate a hit and run collision that claimed the life of Sharon Mitchell, and are joined by her bereaved family in a renewed public appeal for information.

On October 1, 2018 at 8:45 pm, 69-year-old, Sharon Mitchell was in the marked cross walk at the intersection of 68 Avenue and 138 Street, in her wheel chair, when she was struck and killed by a southbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the collision and left the scene.

Investigators believe there are people in the community who have information which could help advance this investigation.

It can be difficult to come forward to police, particularly after so much time has passed, said Cpl Lucy Shorey, Criminal Collision Investigation Team While nothing can take away the grief the family has suffered over last year, witnesses can bring some comfort to this family by assisting us in solving this case.

Police are also appealing directly to the driver. It’s never too late to come forward to explain your side of the story.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502. If you wish to make an anonymous report, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or www.solvecrime.ca.
