Surrey Dump-Truck Driver Found To Be Impaired In Cloverdale: RCMP

Darpan News Desk, 23 Mar, 2020 07:39 PM

The driver of a dump truck has received a 3-day IRP as a result of a traffic stop in the Cloverdale area.

On March 13, 2020, at 8:30 pm, a Surrey RCMP Traffic Unit officer pulled over a dump truck in the 5900-block of 176A Street to conduct a sobriety check after observing some concerning driver behavior.

The driver, a 60 year-old Surrey man, was found to be impaired, and was issued a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition from driving. The truck was impounded for three days.

This incident comes two weeks after a semi-truck driver was found to be impaired, and only three weeks since a commercial vehicle enforcement blitz where numerous vehicle deficiencies were identified.

Our officers regularly inspect commercial vehicles to ensure that they are road-worthy and that the drivers are complying with the Motor Vehicle Act, says Sergeant David Chu, Surrey RCMP. Impaired drivers are a threat to the safety of every road user and our officers will continue to remove those who choose to put the public at risk on our roads.
