Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Dec, 2014 01:12 PM
SURREY, B.C. — A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of crimes that included the carjacking of a woman's SUV with her baby inside.

Surrey RCMP say the suspect was apprehended Tuesday afternoon without incident not far from where the stolen vehicle was located.

Police are recommending a number of charges including robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and unlawful confinement.

The suspect has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Dec. 27.

Police say none of the multiple victims were seriously injured but are all recovering from a very traumatic experience.

Surrey RCMP Cpl. Bert Paquet says smart decisions made by officers and dispatchers were key to returning the child safely to its mother.
