Surrey, B.C., suspect carjacked SUV with baby inside at end of string of crimes

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 23 Dec, 2014 05:39 PM

SURREY, B.C. — A baby is back in its mother's care after it was taken along with the woman's SUV in an escalating series of crimes by a man in Surrey, B.C.

Police were alerted to a suspect when they received a report that a man with a gun was spotted near Fraser Highway.

Before police arrived, they received word that a Toyota pickup truck was stolen with a female inside the vehicle.

A series of crashes along the highway led police to the next event where a Ford Escape was carjacked with the baby inside.

Minutes later, officers found the abandoned vehicle and the baby was unharmed.

A gun was found in the Toyota, but the suspect is still at large and witnesses say he's six-feet tall, has bad skin, short hair and is wearing dark clothing.
