VANCOUVER — A Surrey, B.C., lawyer is facing suspension for professional misconduct after he prepared and filed contradictory affidavits in his client's name.
The B.C. Law Society has issued a statement saying David Siebenga admitted to two actions of professional misconduct before a hearing panel.
The panel heard that Siebenga prepared and filed affidavits saying his client had no legal or beneficial interest in a piece of property.
Siebenga later filed affidavits in the same client's name saying he had an equitable interest in the same property.
He has been suspended for 30 days, from Dec. 19 to Jan. 17.
The B.C. Law society establishes professional development standards for lawyers, and regulates the practice of law.
