Raphael Alcoreza, a Grade 12 student at Panorama Ridge Secondarywho collapsed during a basketball game last week at Holy Cross Regional High School on Nov. 28, has died in hospital.
The six-foot-one guard went into cardiac arrest during a game and was rushed to hospital soon after.
Doctors found that alcoreza had had a heart issue since birth.
"He was a basketball all-star. His goal was to play professional basketball in the Philippines," said Kevin De Boice, the principal at Ecole Panorama Ridge. "And he wanted to be a fireman. The outpouring was huge last night when we knew death was imminent"
