Suncor Says Fort McMurray Oilsands Operations To Be Back Up By End Of June

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 07 Jun, 2016 11:44 AM
CALGARY — Suncor Energy Inc. says it expects its oilsands operations in Fort McMurray, Alta., to be back at full production by the end of this month.

Production was cut back by the wildfire that hit the city — forcing the evacuation of more than 80,000 people — in early May.

Suncor (TSX:SU) says the fire did not cause any damage to its oilsands facilities.

The company also says it plans to have its Edmonton refinery back in operation by the end of this week.

Suncor's Petro-Canada stations across Western Canada have been running short on fuel because of the refinery outage in Edmonton and the Fort McMurray wildfires.

The company says the cumulative effects of lower crude production because of the fires and the Edmonton outage mean the company has been producing less diesel and especially less gasoline for its retail operations.
