Students' Facebook page 'deeply disturbing,' says Dalhousie president

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 16 Dec, 2014 10:35 AM

HALIFAX — Dalhousie University is investigating what it describes as "deeply disturbing" comments posted online about female students in the Halifax school's faculty of dentistry.

University president Richard Florizone says the university has a responsibility to ensure the university is free of harassment and it is looking at a range of options to deal with the allegations.

The school says the "offensive comments" were reportedly shared on a Facebook page.

Florizone says the school has postponed remaining fourth-year exams in the faculty of dentistry and will reschedule them in January, citing anxiety that has caused been among students.

He says the university will take the next 48 hours to consider its response and will announce what steps it plans to take before the end of the week.
