String of robberies in Surrey

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 01 Nov, 2024 12:14 PM
  • String of robberies in Surrey

Police in Surrey say they're investigating a series of residential robberies believed to be linked to similar break-and-enter incidents in other areas of the Lower Mainland.

Surrey R-C-M-P say the suspects work in a team of three, targeting large, single-family homes that are unoccupied at the time, often between 5 and 9 p-m.

The suspects are all men wearing hoods and balaclavas to cover their faces, and investigators believe they watch the homes before carrying out the robberies.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Surrey R-C-M-P detachment, and the Mounties are encouraging residents to be on the lookout.

Former B.C. Green leader Andrew Weaver knows what it's like to form a minority government with the NDP, but says such a deal to form the province's next government is less likely this time than seven years ago. Weaver struck a power-sharing agreement that resulted in John Horgan's NDP minority government in 2017, but says there is now more animosity between the two parties.
