Street cleaning grants for Vancouver

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 06 Feb, 2024 03:21 PM
  • Street cleaning grants for Vancouver

The City of Vancouver has approved 2.64-million-dollars in grants in support of street-cleaning programs this year.

The grants support programs that supplement street-cleaning work completed by City crews and have been active for 24 years.

A statement from city hall says the grant program aligns with Vancouver's broader commitment to keep the city clean and litter-free.

Among the groups receiving funding through the grant program are the Coast Mental Health Foundation, Family Services of Greater Vancouver and The Kettle Friendship Society.

Data from Environment Canada has confirmed what winter sport enthusiasts have known for a while — December was warm in British Columbia. Five communities in the province set or equalled temperature records for the month while the warm weather, combined with a lack of rain or snow, has done little to ease ongoing drought concerns.
