SPCA seizes over 40 dogs near Prince George

The S-P-C-A says animal protection officers have seized more than 40 German shepherds including a dozen puppies from breeder southeast of Prince George.

Marcie Moriarty, chief of protection and outreach services, says the dogs were living in "horrible" conditions in outdoor kennels covered in urine and feces.

She says the dogs were showing signs of distress, with many severely underweight and some with visible wounds.

The S-P-C-A says the 12 puppies range in age from about one week to nine months old, and it can't yet confirm when the dogs would be available for adoption as the investigation continues.
