Soldier Sentenced To Six Years In Child Porn Case

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 16 Dec, 2016 01:24 PM
BELLEVILLE, Ont. — A Canadian Armed Forces sergeant based at CFB Trenton in eastern Ontario has been sentenced to six years in prison for child pornography offences and arranging to commit a sexual offence against a child.

Court officials in Belleville, Ont., say David Rodwell was sentenced yesterday.

The 57-year-old air weapons system technician was convicted on Sept. 22 of possession of child pornography, making child pornography and making an agreement to commit a sexual offence against a child.

He was arrested last year after an online sting involving a U.S. Homeland Security special agent posing as a mother of three.

Police also found five videos and 33 child pornography images on his computer.

As part of his sentence, Rodwell will be added to the National Sex Offender Registry for life, and he faces a lifetime ban on being in parks or other public places where children could be present.
