Snow Blamed For Prince George, B.C., Crash, Storm Threatens Southern Interior

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 10 Nov, 2015 12:47 PM
VANCOUVER — Winter-like conditions have created mayhem on Highway 97, about 70 kilometres north of Prince George, B.C.

A pick-up truck and two tractor-trailer units collided on Tuesday morning near Crooked River Provincial Park, sending one person to hospital with minor injuries.

RCMP say snow-covered roads played a part in the collision, and they estimate the highway will remain closed until at least 4 p.m.

The closure is not the only problem facing motorists in northern B.C.

Highway 37A near Stewart, three kilometres east of the B.C. border with Alaska, has also been closed because power lines have come down near the route.

Special weather statements have also been issued for a large area of southern B.C., including the Coquihalla and Kootenay summits and Fraser Canyon, as up to 20 centimetres of snow blankets the region through Wednesday.
