Smoke From Pan Am Games Fireworks Has Torontonians Fearing CN Tower Was Burning

The Canadian Press, 10 Jul, 2015 11:09 AM
TORONTO — People in the social media universe have found out where there's smoke, there's not always fire.

Social media exploded Thursday night with reports that the CN Tower in Toronto was ablaze.

Photographs posted on Twitter showed smoke pouring from the observation deck of the tower.

Toronto fire officials say they responded to the reports and determined the smoke was from a fireworks display connected with the Pan Am Games, which officially open on Friday.

"I guess that's one way to get people to pay attention to the Pan Ams," one person tweeted.

"Pan Am almost burned down the CN Tower. Let the games begin!" read another tweet.
