  • Small Forest Fire Breaks Out In Popular Hiking Area North Of Vancouver
PARKSVILLE, B.C. — A small wildfire has broken out on in a popular hiking destination north of Vancouver.
 
 
Donna MacPherson, a fire information officer with the Coastal Fire Centre, says the blaze on Brunswick Mountain is about a half-hectare in size.
 
 
She says they know there are hikers in the area, but are not aware of anyone being trapped and notes there is a network of trails to take people off the mountain.
 
 
MacPherson says they have two helicopters and a crew of 25 firefighters responding, along with assistance from a nearby fire department.
 
 
She said there are no homes at risk.
 
 
Brunswick Mountain is about 30 kilometres north of Vancouver.
