Ski resort company Whistler Blackcomb has Q3 loss on higher revenues

Darpan News Desk Canadian Press, 15 Aug, 2014 11:13 AM
Whistler Blackcomb Holdings Inc. (TSX:WB) narrowed its third-quarter loss to $10.2 million and increased its revenues, noting the recent ski season had challenging conditions.

The ski resort company had a loss of 15 cents per diluted share, down from a loss of $12.2 million, or a loss of 19 cents, in the same quarter last year.

Revenue was up 16 per cent to $34.5 million. Revenue per visit was $87.81, up 3.1 per cent.

Whistler Blackcomb Holdings says total visits in the quarter were 393,000, up 13 per cent year-over-year. The increase in visits for the three months ended June 30, 2014 was mainly due to the timing of the Easter holiday, which was in the third quarter in fiscal 2014. In the fiscal 2013, the holiday was in the second quarter.

Whistler Blackcomb holds a 75 stake in Whistler Mountain Resort Limited Partnership and Blackcomb Skiing Enterprises Limited Partnership.

Whistler Blackcomb is the largest four-season mountain resort in North America.
