Six-Year-Old Girl Injured After Falling Off Float In Alberta Parade

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Jun, 2019 05:43 PM

WAINWRIGHT, Alta. — The mayor of a town in east-central Alberta says a six-year-old girl was seriously injured in a parade over the weekend.

Wainwright Mayor Brian Bethune says the girl fell off a float Saturday afternoon in the town's annual stampede parade.

It happened in front of the town's hospital, where she was initially treated.

Bethune says the girl was later airlifted to an Edmonton hospital because there was a concern she might have brain damage.

He says brain damage is no longer a concern, but the girl does have some broken bones.

A statement from 4-H Alberta says one of its members was injured while taking part in the parade.

"On behalf of those involved in 4-H, our thoughts are with the family and we wish the member a speedy recovery," the statement said Monday.
