Sister And Mother Of Murder Suspect Harjot Deo Now Charged In 2017 Kiran Dhesi Slaying

The Canadian Press, 27 May, 2019 05:42 PM

SURREY, B.C. — A third member of the same family has now been charged following the death of a 19-year-old British Columbia woman nearly two years ago.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Inderdeep Deo, who is 23, was arrested last Friday and charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder.

Deo is expected to appear in a Surrey courtroom on May 27.

Cpl. Frank Jang says Deo is the sister of Harjot Singh Deo, the 21-year-old man charged earlier this month with second-degree murder in the death of Kiran Dhesi.

The post-secondary student was found in the remains of a charred vehicle in Surrey on Aug. 1, 2017, and police have said Dhesi and Harjot Deo were in a romantic relationship.

The 53-year-old mother of both Harjot and Inderdeep Deo, Manjit Kaur Deo, was charged May 17 with being an accessory to murder, and Jang says investigators believe others still have information about the slaying.

Harjot Deo was due to appear in provincial court in Surrey on Monday, while Manjit Kaur Deo returns to court early next month.

Police have described Dhesi's death as likely targeted but not gang related.
