Shoplifting operation leads to over 60 arrests

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 May, 2024 04:10 PM
  • Shoplifting operation leads to over 60 arrests

Burnaby R-C-M-P say a four-day operation targeting shoplifting at the Metrotown shopping centre led to more than 60 arrests earlier this month.

They say 12 of the people arrested had outstanding warrants from across the Lower Mainland, including one person who had been wanted for failure to comply with the province's sex offender registry.

Police say officers and security personnel also recovered nearly 15-thousand dollars worth of stolen merchandise and returned it to local businesses.

The Mounties say the operation led to police sending 21 new potential criminal charges to Crown prosecutors for consideration.
