Mounties in Burnaby say their community response team arrested six shoplifters after being deployed to one of the city’s malls for six hours.

Police say nearly 75-hundred-dollars worth of stolen items was recovered and returned to retailers. 

One of the suspects has a long history of negative police contacts, including 113 theft files and four robbery files.

Another 38-year-old man from Vancouver was arrested after walking off with over 26-hundred-dollars of high-end athletic

Police in Burnaby have confirmed a fire in a building overnight has killed one person. Burnaby RCMP say officers received a call from firefighters to assist at the scene near Metrotown Mall on Tuesday night. Police confirmed one fatality in the fire and that the B-C Coroners Service has taken over the investigation.
