Darpan News Desk, 29 Jan, 2020 09:56 PM

Michelle Mungall, Minister of Jobs, Economic Development and Competitiveness, has issued the following statement in response to Shopify’s expansion in Vancouver:

“Shopify’s decision to open a large, permanent office in downtown Vancouver and hire 1,000 new employees is further proof that B.C. is a preferred place to do business among the world’s leading companies.

“This proud Canadian company recognizes B.C. for our top talent and potential for continued growth. Vancouver is known around the world as a hub for innovation and a highly skilled workforce, which continues to make our province attractive to businesses of all sizes.

“My ministry has been working for the past several months with Shopify and our partners at the Vancouver Economic Commission to help make this important investment possible.

“This investment demonstrates the strength of our province’s resilient economy and the power of investing in people.”
