Shooting, Wild Chase Through Surrey Ends With Crash, Three Arrests In Delta

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 05 Jan, 2016 09:55 AM

SURREY, B.C. — Bullets flew as one vehicle pursued another across two Metro Vancouver municipalities Monday night.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Blair McColl says the dangerous chase began in Surrey at about 8 p.m., moments after the driver of a pickup truck called police to report someone in a white car had just fired a shot at him.

The white vehicle sped away but the occupants fired more shots as the driver of the pickup followed, relaying his position to Mounties trying to intercept.

McColl says the gunfire and pursuit continued for 25 minutes, through Surrey and into Delta, along several busy highways.

The white car finally lost control on icy streets in Delta, shearing off a power pole and leaving its three occupants with various, non-life threatening injuries.

Mounties say a gun was seized from the car, the trio is known to them and charges are expected, but an investigation continues.
