Shooting in Coquitlam sends one to hospital, RCMP believe it to be targeted incident

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 18 May, 2023 09:41 AM
  • Shooting in Coquitlam sends one to hospital, RCMP believe it to be targeted incident

Coquitlam RCMP say they believe a shooting in the city's Burke Mountain neighbourhood was a targeted incident.

Officers were called to the David Avenue and Coast Meridian Road area around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found a man with life-threatening gunshot injuries, and he was rushed to hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing a suspect leaving the scene in a silver or grey four-door sedan.

About half an hour later, police were advised of a vehicle fire near Cape Horn Avenue and United Boulevard in Coquitlam, which is believed to be related.

RCMP say the shooting is very concerning because the area was highly populated at the time.
