Shooting Death On Nova Scotia's Big Tancook Island A Hunting Accident: RCMP

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 31 Oct, 2016 01:14 PM
BIG TANCOOK ISLAND, N.S. — RCMP say they have ruled out foul play in the death of a Halifax man who was shot while hunting on Big Tancook Island.

Cpl. Dal Hutchinson says police are investigating a hunting accident and are not investigating a homicide.

However, Hutchinson says police are still looking at possible firearms-related charges as a result of what he calls "an unfortunate incident."

RCMP have said two men were hunting deer on Friday when a 52-year-old man was shot and killed.

Police say the men knew each other but were not hunting together.

They say the man believed to have shot the firearm called police to report the incident and has been co-operating with the investigation.
