Sex with buddy's mom not a motive for stabbing, Eaton Centre killer testifies

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 24 Nov, 2014 11:25 AM

TORONTO — The man who terrified a crowded mall food court with deadly gunfire in June 2012 says he had previously been attacked by six people.

Testifying in his own defence, Christopher Husbands says he doesn't believe he was stabbed because he had sex with the mother of one of the assailants, as previously alleged.

The Crown maintains Husbands opened fire at the landmark downtown Eaton Centre in revenge for the earlier stabbing.

Husbands, 25, has admitted the mall shooting in which two people were killed and several others injured.

However, the defence argues the shooting was not planned.

He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
