Sex Case Of Ex-Alpine Canada Coach Bertrand Charest Put Off Until October

The Canadian Press, 11 Sep, 2015 12:31 PM
SAINT-JEROME, Que. — The case of a former national ski coach who faces a host of sex-related charges involving girls and young women between the ages of 12 and 19 has been put off until October.

Bertrand Charest faces 57 charges, including sexual assault and breach of trust.

He has been in custody since his arrest in March.

The date of Oct. 21 for the resumption of the case was set Thursday. Charest was not in court and will not have to be present either in October for what is expected to be an administrative procedure.

Charest's latest alleged victim came forward a few months ago and said she was sexually assaulted in Whistler, B.C., in the late 1990s.

The initial incidents allegedly took place in the '90s in Mont-Tremblant, north of Montreal, and in France, Austria, New Zealand and the United States.

Charest worked with Alpine Canada's women's development team between 1996 and 1998.
