  • Seven-year-old girl drowns in lake in northern Manitoba: Mounties

Mounties say a seven-year-old girl has drowned while swimming in a lake in northeastern Manitoba.

Police say the girl was with a group of other children on Gods Lake on Sunday, when she went under the water.

The other children ran to get help from an adult, who pulled the girl out of the lake and attempted first aid.

The child was taken to Gods Lake Narrows nursing station, where she was later pronounced dead.

RCMP say officers continue to investigate.

Gods Lake Narrows is located about 550 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
