Seva Thrift Store Donates $20,000 To The Surrey Hospital And Outpatient Care Foundation

, 26 Oct, 2018 08:41 PM
SEVA Thrift Store makes an impact donating $20,000 to the Surrey Hospital and Outpatient Care Foundation during their 2nd Anniversary Celebration on September 23, 2018. Proceeds support the Children's Campaign for medical equipment and services at the hospital.

The Seva Thrift Society began over 2 years ago as an idea to open a charitable thrift store specializing in Indian Ethnic clothing. The idea sparked the community and donations came in plenty from the generous donators. In turn, Seva Thrift store started carrying a variety of goods including housewares & decor that has made the charity store successful beyond imagination.

The appropriately named Seva – it means “selfless service” –  offers an eclectic mix of South Asian ethnic wear, jewelry, plus an array of beautiful South Asian fabrics, accessories and dress clothing – including three-piece outfits, saris, shawls and wedding suits.

Seva Thrift Store is a one of a kind shop that has already made significant contributions to the community in 2 years.  This almost all volunteer run store, has not only donated a total of $30,000 to Surrey Memorial's Children's Health Centre Campaign, but also has helped local women's shelters, provides books for a local Rotary initiative and connected with the local homeless shelter to supply clothing, coats, blankets and other essentials.

The Seva Thrift Society has envisioned donating $30,000 in 2019, in its 3rd Anniversary!

Seva Thrift Society is run by a Board of Directors and is managed by dedicated volunteers.  Their mission is to inspire giving and promote community cohesion by offering gently used, affordable and diverse goods. A place to reduce, reuse and repurpose.
