Services Planned For Newfoundland Little Girl Whose Father Charged In Her Death

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 27 Apr, 2016 11:35 AM
CARBONEAR, N.L. — Services are being planned for a five-year-old girl whose body was found in a burned home in eastern Newfoundland.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday at a church in Harbour Grace, near the community of Carbonear where the little girl was found.

Her father, 37-year-old Trent Spencer Butt, was formally charged yesterday with first-degree murder and arson in her death.

Court officials went to his hospital room to charge him following the house fire early Sunday that left him with serious injuries.

He was rescued from the home, while the remains of his daughter were recovered from the home.

Police say they are still awaiting autopsy results, but had enough evidence to support a charge of murder. (VOCM)
