Separate Late-Night Assaults In Vancouver Lead Police To Teenaged Suspect

    VANCOUVER — A 16-year-old is in custody in Vancouver following two late-night assaults on the city's west side.
     
    Both attacks occurred Sunday night in the Fairview neighbourhood, just west of Vancouver General Hospital.
     
    Sgt. Randy Fincham says a woman was walking her dog at around 10:15 p.m., when she was grabbed from behind by a stranger who ran off when the victim screamed.
     
    The second attack, just 15 minutes later, was reported a few blocks to the southwest, when a woman was grabbed and groped by a stranger who also ran when she screamed.
     
    Fincham says the 16-year-old male was arrested a short time later, although there's no word what led officers to him.
     
    More information is expected to be released later.
