Separate Late-Night Assaults In Vancouver Lead Police To Teenaged Suspect

The Canadian Press, 07 Mar, 2016 11:16 AM
VANCOUVER — A 16-year-old is in custody in Vancouver following two late-night assaults on the city's west side.

Both attacks occurred Sunday night in the Fairview neighbourhood, just west of Vancouver General Hospital.

Sgt. Randy Fincham says a woman was walking her dog at around 10:15 p.m., when she was grabbed from behind by a stranger who ran off when the victim screamed.

The second attack, just 15 minutes later, was reported a few blocks to the southwest, when a woman was grabbed and groped by a stranger who also ran when she screamed.

Fincham says the 16-year-old male was arrested a short time later, although there's no word what led officers to him.

More information is expected to be released later.
