  • Senior pushed to the ground outside downtown shelter: Vancouver Police

Sunday morning, a 73-year-old man with a cane was standing outside a downtown shelter reading a menu. Staff called police when they witnessed a 43-year-old man push the senior to the ground and walk away.

It was a hard fall, and the senior suffered injuries to his hand. Officers located the suspect nearby, who actively resisted arrest. He has an extensive history of being violent with both the public and the police.

Back-up officers arrived and the man was taken into custody. A search revealed a credit card not in his name.

Charges were recommended for assault, resisting arrest, and possession of credit card data. The suspect also had two outstanding arrest warrants.
