The B-C Conservation Officer Service says three rifles have been seized and four people are under investigation after the carcass of a grizzly bear was found near Quesnel.
In a social media post, the C-O service says it was informed of the shooting on Sunday and sent officers to the area.
The post says there is an open season for black bears but there is no such season for grizzlies.
In February, a southeastern B-C man was fined more than 15-thousand dollars and banned from hunting for 10 years after pleading guilty to the October 2021 killing of a grizzly sow and cub that had been eating free-range chickens on his Fernie-area property.
