Seizure of 43K & drug bust in Kelowna

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 30 May, 2024 04:38 PM
  • Seizure of 43K & drug bust in Kelowna

Mounties in Kelowna say a routine traffic stop led to a search warrant for a home, where police found drugs, 43-thousand-dollars in cash, and two handguns.

RCMP say officers stopped a vehicle last Friday and found the driver was known to police, with a history of involvement in the drug trade in the Okanagan city.

They say a search of the car turned up suspected illicit drugs, and a subsequent search of the man's home led police to find more than a kilogram of cocaine as well as suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, and more than 600 prescription pills.

Police also found the two guns, including one fitted with a suppressor, and the Mountie say the man has been released from custody while investigators finish a complete package of evidence to send to Crown prosecutors.
