SEE PICS: NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh Marries Toronto-Based Designer Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu

Darpan News Desk, 23 Feb, 2018 01:56 PM

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh is now a married man. Singh posted the picture of the wedding ceremony with his new-wife, Gurkiran Kaur, on social media.

“It’s official!” Singh tweeted Friday morning.

The tweet included a photo of Singh, 39, and Kaur, 27, sitting together on the floor of what appears to be a Sikh temple, with many others sitting around them. The two are dressed in formal wedding attire. Kaur’s hands are decorated in bridal henna, while Singh has a ceremonial dagger, called a kirpan, in his lap.

Singh’s press secretary, James Smith also confirmed the news by saying, “I can confirm this is the final wedding ceremony,”

Thursday's event was the final ritual capping off the traditional Punjabi wedding ceremony.

Singh proposed to Kaur at a private party in January, with only a few media representatives attending.

Other ceremonies — like the 'sangeet', a celebration organized by the bride's family — were also shared on social media.
