SEE PICS: Cocaine, Cash, Spiked Bat Seized From Home Of Suspected Burnaby Drug Dealer

Darpan News Desk, 30 Jan, 2019 06:28 PM

Weapons such as the ones pictured below are now off the streets along with a significant amount of what is suspected to be cocaine thanks to the work of Burnaby RCMP’s Drugs Section.

In December, Burnaby RCMP Drug section initiated a drug trafficking investigation on a 55-year-old male suspect. The investigation continued through December and into January.

On Thursday January 24, 2018, Burnaby RCMP Drug Section with support from Burnaby RCMP’s Prolific Offender Suppression Team arrested the suspect without incident on Enterprise Street in Burnaby.

A search warrant executed later the same day on the suspect’s residence and vehicle resulted in the recovery of prohibited weapons which included a bat which had nails driven through the top of it.

In addition, a quantity of what is suspected to be cocaine was recovered hidden in jars and tins. The operation also resulted in the seizure of cash.

In addition to the drugs and cash, the fact that these weapons are off the street is a big success for our drug section, says Chief Superintendent Deanne Burleigh, Officer in Charge of Burnaby Detachment. Our drug section is committed to proactive enforcement, targeting and arresting those suspected of dealing drugs in our community.

A 55-year-old Burnaby man is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a prohibited weapon in relation to this investigation.
