Second-Degree Murder Charge Laid In Death Of Abbotsford Man

Darpan News Desk The Canadian Press, 17 May, 2016 01:20 PM
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — Two people have been arrested and a man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of an Abbotsford, B.C., man earlier this year.

Police say officers were called to a home in Abbotsford in late February where they found the body of a 63-year-old man whose death was deemed suspicious.

The Integrated Homicide Investigations Team took over the case, and two people were arrested last week.

Penticton resident Shayne McGenn has been charged with second-degree murder and 33-year-old Sarah Sather has been charged with accessory after the fact.

IHIT spokeswoman Sgt. Stephanie Ashton says the victim and suspects knew each other.

She says the investigation required help from police units throughout the Lower Mainland and officers are now turning their attention to making sure Crown lawyers have what they need to move the case through the court system.
