SURREY, B.C. — A manslaughter charge has been laid against a second man following the 2014 stabbing death in Surrey, B.C., of a retired, widowed mill worker who was homeless.
Donald Deweyn was stabbed to death on July 25, during an altercation with two men in a parking lot.
Sgt. Stephanie Ashton of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says 23-year-old Dylan Dempsey was charged with manslaughter the following month.
Further investigation has led to the arrest of 28-year-old Tyson Cole who Ashton says is also charged with manslaughter and is expected to appear in court on April 29.
She says the victim had no criminal record and no negative contact with the police.
Chief Supt. Bill Fordy of the Surrey RCMP says police hope the arrests bring closure to the family and friends of Deweyn.
