Searchers Looking For Nunavut Legislature Member Missing On Snowmobile Trip

    IQALUIT, Nunavut — A Nunavut member of the legislature has been missing since leaving the northern capital on an overnight snowmobile trip.
     
    Northern officials say Pauloosie Keeyootak left Iqaluit last Tuesday and was supposed to have arrived at his destination the following day.
     
    He and his two travelling companions never arrived in Pangnirtung, about 300 kilometres away.
     
    The trip was along a well-marked route, with three cabins along the way to shelter travellers.
     
    Search teams have been mobilized.
     
    The weather in the area has been cold and windy and temperatures have dropped to -30 C.
     
    Keeyootak represents a riding on the east coast of Baffin Island.
